Gonzaga Legends Back in the Spotlight Hoopfest Week

Gonzaga Legends Back in the Spotlight Hoopfest Week

There’s no better way to kick off the Best Basketball Weekend on Earth than listening to Gonzaga powerhouses relive their favorite memories from their college careers. On Thursday, June 27 of Hoopfest week, former Zags basketball stars Kelly Olynyk, Steven Gray, David Pendergraft and Heather Bowman will headline the second “Gonzaga Legends” event at the Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox. Doors open at 6 p.m., with the show starting at 7 p.m.

The event gives the audience a unique opportunity to hear stories from the players who have had a lasting impact on the Gonzaga Basketball Program throughout the years. Olynyk currently plays as a Power Forward for the Miami Heat, in his 2012-2013 season  with the Zags he averaged 17.8 points; Gray averaged 11.5 points throughout his run at GU; Pendergraft is not only a Gonzaga legend, but a Hoopfest legend as well, winning five straight titles in the over 6-foot men’s division; and Bowman, who graduated in 2010, was once the all-time leading scorer in West Coast Conference women’s basketball history.

“It’s an incredible honor. When you look at the caliber of athletes and people that come through this program it’s a saturated field and I’m really proud to sit with some of those at this event,” explained Heather Bowman when asked how it felt to be dubbed a “Gonzaga Legend.”

General admissions tickets cost $6 for “Gonzaga Legends” are available online at TicketsWest (www.ticketswest.com or 800-325-SEAT). A VIP ticket package is available for $60 and includes prime seating for the event, a private reception with players beforehand, a complimentary drink, appetizers, Gonzaga and Hoopfest swag and posters ready for autographs.

The first round of the “Gonzaga Legends” series, held last fall, featured Casey Calvary, Dan Dickau, Adam Morrison and our very own Executive Director, Matt Santangelo.
