Jewelry Design Center Bedazzles Hoopfest Once Again
The Best Basketball Weekend on Earth calls for tons of swag to be designed and given out to each player, volunteer and fan. In addition to the prizes that our Hoopers receive and the items that can be purchased in the Hoopfest Store presented by Nike, we wanted to bring back the blinged out prize for our JBL & Huppin’s Elite Division winners. Once again, Jewelry Design Center partnered with us to create a signature piece for Hoopfest 2019’s Elite champions.
When it comes to crafting beautiful pieces of jewelry, Jewelry Design Center is and has been one of the best. Doug Toone first opened Jewelry Design Center back in 1977 with only one small display case. Since then, the store has grown into one of the most innovative retail outlets in the nation, known as one of the premier importers of loose diamonds and precious gemstones in the Northwest. The company remains family owned, ran by Doug’s son Brian Toone, who continues to put the same pride and design excellence into each and every piece that enters the store.

Our Elite Division includes Co-Ed, Men’s 6 Foot and Under, Men’s Open and women, so inclusivity and practically were a design-must. That’s where the experts came in! Together, Spokane Hoops Association and Jewelry Design Center brainstormed and collaborated to come up with a piece of hardware for our Elite Hoopfest Players that would satisfy our diverse group of athletes.
In honor of the 30th Anniversary, the design had to feature a little more bling than usual. The dog tags are laser cut sterling silver then dipped in 24K Gold with two diamonds showcasing the championship letters. A special feature on the dog tags is the “AV Forever” etched into the back, honoring a valued member of the Hoopfest family, Andrew Vathis, who passed away in January. Spokane Hoopfest Association and Jewelry Design Center were looking for the best way to honor Andrew and his memory and believed there was no better place for this than on the Elite Championship jewelry. Sixteen lucky winners from our Elite Division will have the opportunity to cherish these pieces for a lifetime.
