March Madness is officially here, and it doesn’t matter who you’re rooting for (Go Zags!) but odds are you’ve filled out a bracket hoping your team makes it all the way to Minneapolis, Minnesota. I’m sure you’ve looked at every stat, every score and each player’s history to decide who has what it takes. Even with all this research guiding your decision, the chances you fill out the perfect bracket are 1 in 9.2 quintillion!
This major basketball phenomenon has us looking towards another major basketball event that’s a little closer to home, the World’s Biggest 3on3 Tournament, of course! So really, how do these two events compare?
The NCAA March Madness Tournament rakes in 70 million potential brackets with $10.4 billion in bets each year. Only 68 teams are lucky enough to hear their name called on Selection Sunday, and as we know, only four talented teams battle it out to make it all the way to the Final Four. When it comes to making a bracket, essentially the world is at your finger tips to reading the stats, to figuring out who advances to the next round.
#Hoopfest2019 is set to be one of our biggest years yet, as we celebrate our 30th anniversary. We’re looking to bring more than last year’s record of 6,037 teams back to the streets of Spokane. That’s a total nearly 24,000 3on3 players all looking at winning a coveted Hoopfest championship t-shirt. Our brackets work a little differently than the ones in the NCAA though. For starters, we get some wild names to pick from. When it comes to the statistics of it all, there’s no Google or ESPN research to help pick a winner. It’s basically almost impossible to pick a winner from the get go! Those odds are probably even higher than 1 in 9.2 quintillion … whoa.

Find your squad, pick a fun name and sign up on our website, or with one of our paper entry forms from Yoke’s Fresh Market. We love original team names and costumes, so don’t be afraid to go all out. Just make sure your name meets our guidelines, we have a whole panel who double checks that only appropriate names make it in to the tournament!
